Columnist fails at consistency
Hi, my name is Kaitlyn, and I never finish anything. This isn’t a blog in which I complain; I’m merely stating the facts that I’ve been ignoring for so many years. Take this article, for example. My darling editor, Hailey Konnath, has been harping on me for weeks to finish and once again I have fallen short. This is the last work night before the paper goes to press and I’m just...

DMV destroys dreams of voting
It’s the day of my 18th birthday, and I am beyond eager to tackle number 2 on my list, registering to vote. All day on Oct. 14, I can’t wait to sit in line in eager anticipation of renewing my driver’s license. So I set out on an adventure with the intention of compiling 10 things I absolutely must do before I graduate. I will not walk across the stage and accept my diploma until I have put a...

Birthday at a Funeral
Today is my grandmother’s birthday. Cousins and nieces and uncles and other assorted family members gather at my house to celebrate. Within minutes the pool is full of toddlers gleefully paddling towards my brother so he can toss them in a graceful arc to the other side of the shallow end. My aunts congregate in a corner with their cosmos and margaritas and coronas to laugh and avoid their...

This is only a test.
Greetings from Marian High School, located in scenic Omaha, Nebraska. As some may know, Marian has quite the reputable journalism program and in May of 2009, I, Kaitlyn Griffith, was appointed Online Editor. I take my position very seriously. Kind of.
I’ve been trying to find a way to put a column online and link it to the newspaper’s home page, which needs a little sprucing up...
